The iPhone 13 Release Date, Price, and Specifications have been on the rumor mills of tech leaks and major news sites. As the suspected launch date approaches, we have put together all we know. We also ask, is the new iPhone worth the hype? Is it going to be just another slight upgrade from the iPhone 12? Can we be a little more excited about Apple’s new range of iPhones?
A survey conducted by SellCell and reported on by MacRumors says that 44% of people currently using an iPhone plan on upgrading to one of the iPhone 13 models when it is released into the market. This shows that many people are anticipating the iPhone. However, like many of its releases, Apple doesn’t leave a lot of information on their new devices leaving the masses to fend off leaks and rumors. September has been widely rumored as the launch date for the new iPhone. And we now have a clear idea of what to expect from the new iPhone and its brothers.
iPhone 13 Models
Early rumors indicated that the new device could be called the iPhone 12S but recent leaks indicate Apple is going with iPhone 13. However, various tech reporters have drawn our attention to the superstitious relations of the number 13 as unlucky. It seems Apple doesn’t believe in superstitions after all. The leaked names for the devices are the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max which was predicted by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This means the lineup is the same as last year’s iPhone 12 lineup. The iPhone 12 mini has reportedly not sold well but it seems Apple is optimistic as they decided to maintain the rather small brother of the pack
We all love the iPhone for its design and Apple knows this. Since the iPhone X, they have made small tweaks so that we can continue to enjoy the minimal yet beautiful design. In 2021, we do not expect the iPhone 13 design to change as reports indicate that the Design is largely unchanged. What change we do expect is a smaller notch on all four models which allows for an almost bezel-less display experience. The Four iPhone 13 models will all come in the same sizes as the iPhone 12 series. The screen is expected to have a smooth-scrolling feature on all Pro versions.
The iconic iPhone camera is once again seeing an upgrade as Apple makes the camera even better. It is expected to have an improved ultrawide lens on all Pro versions. We also expect that the biggest camera upgrades will be featured in the Pro versions with an all-new astrophotography feature and portrait mode video. There will be ProRes video recording as well.
Away with the notch finally. Apple has reportedly figured a way to make the Notchless display. So all versions of the iPhone 13 will come without a notch. Also, you can expect an Always-on display. You can now see your important notifications and time without having to put your screen off. You don’t need to worry about power consumption as the always-on display doesn’t take a ton of power to work. The devices will also come with an increased Dynamic 120Hz refresh rate for Pro model displays.
The reported display sizes.
- iPhone 13 mini; 5.4-inch display at a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (476 PPI, 60Hz)
- iPhone 13; 6.1-inch display at a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels (460 PPI, 60Hz)
- iPhone 13 Pro; 6.1-inch display at a resolution of 1170 x 2532 pixels (460 PPI, 120Hz, OLED)
- iPhone 13 Pro Max; 6.7-inch display at a resolution of 1284 x 2778 pixels (458 PPI, 120Hz, OLED)
Battery, Storage & Performance
If you have already been using an iPhone, you know they have a decent battery performance despite their small capacity. Now here’s some good news. We expect larger batteries expected on all four iPhone 13 models. Here are the specifications.
- iPhone 13 Mini; 2,406-mAh battery
- iPhone 13; 3,095 mAh battery
- iPhone 13 Pro; 3,095 mAh battery
- iPhone 13 Pro Max; 4,325 mAh battery
However, we need to warn you. The actual battery performance may depend on various factors that mean the larger capacity may not translate into better and longer battery life.
In the chipset department, we will be having the Faster, New, powerful A15 Bionic chip. And the devices will now give you more storage, up to 1TB.
The new iPhones are expected to come in the usual black, silver, rose gold, and sunset gold.
But rumors predict the possibility of two new colors which depending on who you ask could be any bubblegum pink, matte black, bronze, or orange color.
Is a new color possible, yes? A few months ago, the iPhone 12 got a new purple color. Apple has also launched the iPhone red which was a partnership to support AIDS.
Other Features and Specification
There are new additions to the iPhone. Well, 5G isn’t new but it is an improved 5G with a new modem. We also expect satellite communications capability for emergency texts.
Price starts at $699 / £699
iPhone 13 Release Date
It is expected that the new iPhones will be announced and released in September 2021. Apple usually has events on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Also, Apple usually does releases on Fridays, usually a week after announcement around the third week of September. This means we can expect the iPhone 13 to be released on September 24th with the announcement on Sep 14, 2021.
The iPhone 13, Worth the Hype?
So is the new iPhone worth the hype? Expectations were wild immediately after the iPhone 12 was launched. But as we got more leaks and confirmations, things became more realistic. We can’t say the improvement is major. This is probably the reason some speculators said it could be called iPhone 12S. The S is usually reserved for a special iPhone with new and powerful specifications in the body of an older iPhone. But in this case, we expect a slightly different display with almost the same body. However, the specifications are not seeing a major bump.
Major Highlights in the iPhone 13.
- A 120Hz ProMotion OLED display (on the Pro and Pro Max)
- Better battery life
- Larger storage options
- New camera features
In a nutshell, if you have an iPhone 12, upgrading to the iPhone 13 may not give you an entirely new experience whether in power, performance, or even design. It’s identical to the 2020 iPhone. But if you are using an older iPhone such as the iPhone X or the iPhone 11, this upgrade may mean something to you. If you are thinking about joining the apple family, you will most certainly have a wildly new experience in the world of iTunes, AppStore, and all that comes with the Apple ecosystem. We think the new iPhone won’t be worth it for those already using an iPhone 12 but is great for new Apple users. As an existing iPhone user but using an older than 3 years device, it will be worth it as well.
